Ash mugs are coming along nicely. Spent some time in the studio today trimming and constructing handles. I tried and failed throwing a hollow handle. And the ones that did survive the throwing just looked too big for the body. Oh well.Guess I was having an off day. Ill try again tomorrow. And I really think I need to try the extruder. I've also put up a very rough "sketch" of my hollow handles that I have so beautifuly drawn on my notes app.

Ritual update1
Sketches and first editions of my ashtray/coffee mug mashup are in the works this week. Ideas in mind include hollow handles to ash in. Going to play with shapes and sizes as forms get trimmed. Im also working on making stackable mug/ashtray combos and tea cup and plate inspired combos. I want to make a mug that has a lid that is an ashtray as well. I'm trying to incorporate texture.needing more studio time.
Trying to keeping in mind how to display these pieces as well. I like the idea of displaying them in a space like a cabinet, or maybe an openface cabinet like shelf, where they would normally be stored...hinting towards a ritual that is often overlooked when starting a daily routine. The ritual of actually choosing which mug to use.
Mugtrays...mug-rays...ash-ugs...ashtrugs....still working on a clever name for them.

It was probably the hottest day we could have chose to do this but it wasnt too bad...and I'm super excited to build up the new one which made the heat bearable. Got everything taken apart and moved and stacked in about an hour. Go us!

Handled
I haven't got all of them done. 3 are complete. One needs some jute around the wire an the little attachment brackets broke off of the other so I'm gonna have to figure something out for the future. My favorite is more simple wooden handle with jute. Least favorite and is the first one I did and the one that took the longest....with all the wood....technically its not wood. Its willow but oh well. The one with the red/orange lid.
